James Boag: Premium Lager (5%)

What does the brewery say?

James Boag’s Premium Lager is renowned for its superior quality and refreshing, clean finish. It has been awarded with many gold medals and trophies both within Australia and overseas, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s truly great premium beers.

What do we say?

Who knew Tasmania brews beer?

The problem with reviewing more commercially manufactured lagers is often there is not much to say other than whether or not it is drinkable. This Tasmanian lager pours a light golden colour with a white head which quickly disappears. It hits the magic 5%, making it at the “premium” end of the lager scale, which is always a plus. Flavour wise, it is smooth and refreshing, but is definitely not one for the connoisseurs. Ilona and I both think that it is up there with all the other “premium” lagers and it would be worth choosing over other beers such as Peroni and Kronenberg. While it is not a ground breaking by any means, in the words of Ilona, “it is one for the BBQ!”
